The panel on an Omarchy desktop

Open the interactive panel

One sidebar. Make it yours.

  • For your notes and checklists
  • Your time zones, together
  • Fold a note. Keep it close.

A scratchpad for Omarchy Shell. Each note is a Markdown file on your machine.

Designed forOmarchy

Generated office concept inspired by DHH’s desk: a single monitor, a compact speaker, and a white curved desk with a keyboard and mouse. No window frames.
The Omarchy top bar: workspace numbers at the left, the clock in the middle, the system tray at the right.
An Omarchy workspace with a Markdown document open in Neovim beside a btop system monitor, tiled on the desktop left of the panel.
Your sidebar: notes and checklists, world clocks, and folded notes.

Markdown files underneath

One note, one local Markdown file.

Your AI agents will love this.

Plain Markdown. Local files. Easy to read, edit, and organize with the file tools your agents already use.

Three paper notes paired with their Markdown files: Tuesday maps to tuesday.md, Weekend to weekend.md, and Garden to garden.md. Each file contains the same text as its note.

What a note holds

You type Markdown. The panel shows paper.

Widget marketplace

Choose widgets from the marketplace and add them to your sidebar. Keep clocks, weather, music, video, and tasks beside your notes.

Amber clocks for Malibu, Chicago, and Copenhagen, with the demo joke: One clock. Zero Kubernetes.

World clocks

Up to twelve places on one amber dot-matrix display. Daylight-saving time comes from the local zone database. No network.

Copenhagen weather at 12 degrees, with the demo joke: Clouds allowed. AWS optional.

Weather

Choose a city for current conditions and a three-day forecast from Open-Meteo. No GPS or location guessing.

A music widget playing the fictional track No Build Required by The Majestic Monoliths.

Spotify

Control the Spotify desktop app through its local player interface. No account login, network, or artwork download.

An endurance-racing video widget titled One more lap. Then ship.

Browser video

Dock native picture-in-picture from Chromium. Requires the browser extension and local bridge; the browser handles video, audio, and controls.

A yellow demo task list: Leave the cloud, Delete a dependency, and Touch grass. Then ship.

Google Tasks

Your default My Tasks list beside your notes. Requires your own Google OAuth client; the token stays in the desktop keyring. Off until configured.

Install

The plugin runs inside Omarchy Shell. The repository is private, so the command works only when your Git credentials can read it.

Before you start

  • Omarchy with Omarchy Shell.
  • Python 3 with the python-pyside6 package.
  • Read access to the GitHub repository, with Git authentication set up on this machine.

Add the plugin

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/lumberman/omarchy-sidepanel --enable

Without access, Git stops with an authentication error and nothing is installed. There is no public download.

Optional setup

Browser video

From the plugin folder, run ./scripts/install-video-bridge --browser chromium. Then load the browser-extension folder as an unpacked extension. The extension acts only when you click its icon.

Google Tasks

Create a Google Desktop OAuth client of your own and install libsecret. Then run ./scripts/configure-google-tasks with the downloaded client file. Connect from the card picker.
